Hi friend, trust everything is fine with you and family. Today I will like to share with you some of the lessons I learned from my business mentor. It sounded simple to me the first time he shared with me. I did not take it seriously until I had from a popular and celebrated businessman and actor. His star was shining, people wanted him to appear in their movies because of his popularity and favour with all. He has over ten thousand followers on instagram and facebook. Several blue cheap companies and media agencies were placing high premium on him to be the product’s ambassador. What a success!
All of a sudden some wicked people cooked up a scenario to puncture his reputation. Evil bloggers started writing bad stories about his immoral lifestyle, his anger tendency, accuse of fraud and all such of discouraging issues about him.
Meanwhile, when he was building his personal branding he did not put strong reputation management in place. You may want to ask, how did he become so popular without good media especially social media? Yes, someone can have effective media to propagate his brand without having effective online reputation management strategy. The making of a brand activation is quite different from the making of a brand management.
The research confirms that most blue chip companies spend about 65% to 70% of their annual profits on product brand management. They spend money running adverts on radio and TV, social responsibility, Print media, developing various brand association in order to maintain relevance in the marketplace.
Therefore what you spend in developing and activating your personal brand cannot be compared with what you need to maintain it
The celebrity actor I am talking about spent time and resources on developing and activating his brand without considering how to protect his reputation, probably maybe he did not know or surround himself with media personnel who knows little or nothing about reputation management.
That is the reason I decided to write to my audience about this. Whoever you are, whatever industry you are operating from, irrespective of your age, tribe, or complexion, we are all a product. We are created to solve a problem. We are designed to fulfill a purpose and We are branded to succeed and reflect the authority of the Creator. We are on a mission and remember competition is abound to happen.
My celeb friend, because of his poor reputation management strategy lost his reputation. All the contracts he had with media agencies was withdrawn; just in a day his instagram and facebook followers dropped by 65% .Life turned upside down for him because he did not protect his reputation even while he was a shining star actor.
I want to appeal to you don’t miss any of the write ups. I am going to share some practical experience of many great celebrities across the world how they built their personal brand, and the mistakes that led to the destruction of their brand and how we can avoid their pitfalls.

The brand name of Jesus Christ has been in existence for more than 2000 years and the Name is still relevant. About 3.5 billion people across the world accept and follow the brand Name Jesus. That is the reason I took time to study what could constitute the success of His Brand.
Now let us start with this question, how do you carry your reputation? Do you know that the greatest asset of individual is his or her reputation? Nobody succeeded above the standard of his or her reputation.
What is your reputation? Your reputation is your personal identity. It is your significant quota. It is your brand. It is what people know you for, what they want you for and what people desire to pay you for.
Your reputation does not only indicate the name you bear but everything that is attached to that name. As a brand identifier, you cannot function without brand attributes which comprises of the benefits or values it gives to people. Also your personal reputation connects you with every benefit life could give.
Therefore, the book of Proverbs says good name is better than gold and silver. A name with good reputation is stronger than one that worth billions of dollars without good reputation.
Although, it may take time for a man with good reputation to get wealth. But certainly, he or she will become wealthy. Unlike a man who got his wealth in a crooked way, his reputation is dented, he had lost his identify amongst the people. He would be ill-favoured and later may be isolated and end in poverty.
Personal reputation management is very essential to everyone who value success and desire to remain significant. Remember, one of the laws that syndicated the efficacy of reputation is the main Target of the competition. The law says “if you want to weaken your opponent destroy his reputation.”
I believe this law is being used by the competitors in almost every walks of life. That is the reason most leading brands spend millions of dollars on brand management just to keep the significance of a brand.
I have seen many great men and women with great talents and potentials languishing in pain of frustration. And depression comes from poor Personal reputation management. Likewise there are many lead products we can no longer see in the market again due to improper brand management.
Meanwhile, when your Personal management is properly done, it gives you recognition and earns you respect and honour which could be translated into commercial value.
Good management of your reputation open the door of opportunities anywhere, anytime. It makes business negotiation turn out on your favour.
It is not easy to build personal reputation. Most of the time building personal reputation requires great sacrifice of time, energy and money. You invest in adding value to yourself. Promoting your gifts and talents. Showcasing your worth. Sometimes you offer free service and endure inconveniences just to build your personal reputation.
If you are a minister of the gospel. You discipline yourself, spend time in place of prayer and fasting to build your spiritual muscles so you can supply people with divine solution to their problems.
Now, how can someone invest so much time, energy and money into personal reputation development and will not take the management of such reputation seriously or commit or contracted wrong personnel to manage his or her Personal brand.
Therefore, my friend, whatever you are doing, whatever profession you’re into, may be you are a leader in the society, organisation or association, your personal reputation management is very crucial. Do not wait until your enemy starts threatening your reputation before you put system in place to manage your brand.
However, as important as your offline reputation is, so also your online reputation management is crucial to your personal success. I noticed so many pastors, Ministry heads, Actors/Actresses, Musicians and Business leaders play nonchalant attitude towards their personal online reputation management. Some of them contracted wrong personnel while some don’t even bordered about it at all. They don’t mind what is being posted on their timeline in Facebook, Twitter or the pictures on their Instagram. Meanwhile some of this class are not on any of the social Media. They are so engrossed in appearing everywhere. Display generosity, seeking for good favour of people in high places so as to build a great name.
Meanwhile, having a great name is not having a significant brand. Therefore in the next few weeks I will be taking you on a journey of becoming a significant brand in whatever endeavour you are.
