Education sector is the capacity building arm of the country and requires constant re-engineering and overhauling as occasion demands.
However, the kind of education system and curriculum running in Nigeria schools for years has failed to produced better flag bearer and value creators like we have in some advanced countries of the world. Moreso our learning style seems obsolete and need total review and overhauling.
This is what make Chief Yinusa Adekunle Dauda principal Partner and Real Estate consultant at Adekunleolaniyi & Co. expressed his concern towards the future of Nigeria development and advised that Federal Government should look into restructuring education sector into more activity based- learning across all levels. He indicated that, It will produces better result in nation building rather than laying emphasize on paper certificate that does not have the prove of capacity to create value.
Chief Yinusa Adekunle, who benefited from U.S learning system explained the tremendous impact of activity based learning style of United States of America and how it brought out the best of his wards capacities to create value at a tender age. Likewise having traveled to many countries and see how their learning style contributed to their development; he optimistically expressed that Nigeria can a better country if our education sector can be repositioned.
He also advised religious organizations to be more committed to capacity building programs and career mentorship rather than mortgaging people’s life and merchandising the gifts of God. He explained further, that the essence of religious bodies in nation building is to raise good standard of living by developing future leaders and provide relief support for the less privileges.
Seriki of Iro Igbehin Egba Land further admonished the senior professionals and Business tycoon to intentionally create rapport with young aspiring subordinates, youths and teenagers and engage them in mentorship program. He maintained, Apprenticeship and internship learning style remain the best form of education and we need to adopt this in order to raise future leaders.
