The rate at which young men and women are indulging in drug abuse called for corrective attention. Tramadol worth millions of Naira were destroyed by National Agency for Food and Drug Administration Control NAFDAC in collaboration with Nigeria Customs.

Government agencies are doing their best to secure better future for the youth yet it seems their efforts are not appreciated as many young and old are getting more addicted to drugs and perpetrating evil in the society.

However, critically observed, we need to discover why our people are get addicted to drugs. One of the reasons is depression. Depression is a mental state of frustration probably as a result of unfulfilled desires, broken homes, joblessness, etc.

Recently Nigeria government look into how to decongest prisons in Nigeria. It obvious that crimes are increase everyday now and then due to frustration which as well lead to depression and result to suicide, drug abuse sexual immorality and corruption of all kinds.

At NEWSCHAT early today’s interactive session our guest Mr Joshua Aderinola suggested that Nigerians need more of psychologist in order to manage Critical depression inflicted by leadership incompetence in Nigeria.

According to the leadership expert, everything rises and falls on leadership including the emotional state of the people.

He also expressed his disappointment in the service of religious leaders especially the church leaders and they contribute to the predicament of the people they suppose to help out of emotional imbalance.

Most of the pastors don’t know their clerical responsibility in the society. They are more conscious of how to defraud people make themselves rich and oppress others with their riches.

The clerical assignment of any Christian leader is to attend to spiritual and emotional problems in the society not playing politics and give fake hope in order to get money from people.

Pastors are also psychologists. He made reference to his experience as a student at International Bible college of Ministry and Calvary Bible College both based at Ibadan. He said “we were taught how to positively appeal to people emotional challenge and provide solutions through the use of the Bible.” He continued, but today there are thousands of unregenerated and untrained clerics parading themselves as pastors, evangelist or public speakers. They know nothing about the ethics of spiritual leadership but sleep around with women or same sex and polluting the society with detrimental doctrine of frustration and fear.

Ɠbenga Aderinola advised the government of the day to put checks and balancing into the religious sector of the states because of the impact and enormous benefits society may enjoy from adequate and excellent services of trained religious leaders. This will help us reduced the rate of depression in the land.
