What is typhoid fever?
Typhoid fever remains one of the the serious worldwide health threating disease. According to Centers for Disease control and Prevention, over 22millions people are affected annually by bacteria called salmonella typhi that causes typhoid fever. S.typhi and bacterium responsible for salmonellosis, a serious intestinal infection.

How to some can contact Typhoid fever
Typhoid fever can be contacted through contaminated foods, fruits and water. Eating raw foods or unwashed fruits could allow the contagious effect of typhoid fever. Likewise, closeness to the infected person can expose someone to contact the bacteria.

What are the symptoms of typhoid fever
In most cases, especially in children with typhoid fever, the sign and symptoms of sickness is likely to develop gradually which includes, fever or temperature that starts low and increase daily, often to as high as 39.4C or 40C (109 or 104F), headache, weakness and fatigue, dry cough, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, diarrhea or constipation and rach.

Treatment
Antibiotic treatment remains only curative measure and must be prescribed by competent physician, pharmacist or experience healthcare officer. Although there is typhoid fever vaccine but not as effective as taking prevent measure to control the spreading of this disease.

How to typhoid fever spread
Even after antibiotic treatment of typhoid fever, the chronic carrier that recover still harbor the bacteria in their intestinal tracts or gallbladder, often for years, even they are not having the signs or symptoms of typhoid fever. These people, called chronic carrier, shed the bacteria in their feces or urine. Likewise typhoid fever can be spread through sweat, uncooked foods, dirty environment, untreated water, unwashed fruits, contaminated household items such as toilets, door handle, clothes etc.

How to Protect yourself from typhoid fever
There are several things you can do to safe yourself and family from contacting the bacteria responsible for typhoid fever. keep your environment clean, cleanliness is next to godliness. Wash your hand frequently and thoroughly with soap and water especially after toilet. Avoid drinking untreated water. Avoid eating raw and unwashed fruits and uncooked vegetables. Choose hot and avoid food from street vendors whose hygiene can not be confirmed.
